New metal song! It's long, it's really rough, and it's pretty :) (REMIXED!)

Yay I can post again!

Don't let the title fool you, it's nowhere near "mastered". I just threw it through a quick limiter/multiband so it would sound a little better for the intarweb ;p

*edit: I remixed it with the vocals way down and slightly more attention paid to details like volume automation & stuff.

What gear did ya use to record it all?

We used a lot of gear! :p Primarily, I've got a Delta 1010, a Triple Rec, and a Framus Dragon, a custom drumset built by the drummer, some borrowed mics (this was before I bought my own nicer ones), and some other random stuff :)

That is sweet! It's really got a tight HardCore sound to it. Reminds me of later Living Sacrifice.

Dangit :/ I'm really excited about this song, both the mix/engineering, and the song in general! I guess not a lot of people feel the same heh :p

Listening as i type. I like the vibe of the intro. The transition is good, although a bit too much reverb on the guitar. The snare seems to be getting lost, I'd cut the guitars between 250Hz and 300Hz to let it come through. The guitars seem to be dominating the bass and drums, maybe a high pass filter at 80-100Hz would help give the bass more room. The bass drum is a bit clicky. If you like, fine, otherwise a cut between 2.5kHz and 5kHz would help.

Good sounds overall, just some more mixing and you're on your way to an awesome product.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree on the snare: he broke his new head almost right away so it's an old head, and at the time I didn't understand how much of a difference a bottom snare mic can make with the "crack"!

I'll try putting a more aggressive high-pass on the guitars: they've already got one at ~110, with a slight boost around 120-140 for some meat. Perhaps the song needs some veggies :p

The click definitely needs to come down a smidge. There was way too little the first mixing round: I overcompensated this time :p
