Greetings all! I'm new to the board, and still honeymooning with my new BR-8. I've had experience with a couple of 4-track cassette devices over the years, and found this to be the perfect productivity aid for an impatient person like myself! I haven't wrestled yet with the finer ins-and-outs of using the machine to mixdown, but it sure is a great one-stop sandbox for the solo songwriter/guitarist.

Thanks to Shana, Robert Manor, and 72fender for the lively discussions about the BR-8. I've found them usefull. I'd be interested to hear any winning tips and tricks that people have found regarding this new toy of mine! (for instance... is anyone having a problem with their choice of headphones seeming to overload at reasonable levels during recording??)

Be well, and have fun, I'll stop by again soon.

Hey..Welcome to to the club.. I not sure what you mean with headphone overloading.. make sure to watch your levels and a try monitoring sometimes thru your speakers if they have a headphone input. That way you can really raise the volume without making the machine's master fader too loud. What can I say,, get a few zip disks to work with,, optimize regularly to help save space on the disk, and oh yeah,, watch when you use the COSM affects cuz when you bounce you are sure to get a build up of all the noise added by each effect. When youre recording have a pal watch the input levels with you. Its hard to sing in to the mike and look at the screen at the same time. Try to keep the input levels as low as possible. When going digital you have to keep the distortion and nosie under a tight wrap because unlike analog theres no room for it and its painfully obvious when its there.

Read the manual once b4 you start, once after youve attempted a recording,, while you record (for questions) and then in a few weeks when you have it figured out. You'll learn more each time.. Have fun and post some mp3s soon
