I've been listening and watching this list for a while, finally summed up the courage to post some of our music.
The name of our group is Konnected Kin. There are 3 of us, myself (Tanya or Mom), my husband Rod and our 14 year old daughter, Tracy.
Tracy sings lead and does a lot of background vocals. The other day she came to me with a notebook paper with some lyrics and asked for my help on laying out an arrangement. I thought the words were pretty "teenish", but what the heck. So below is the link to our site and a link to the song she wrote. It's still a little rough, but it was a good time.
There's also some links for cover songs we do. We do some performing locally for benefits and small events. There's a couple of short video clips from the last event, the sound isn't all that great from the camcorder's mic.
Any comments would be appreciated.

by the time im done downloading this im sure you will have had enough feedback but im gonna give it a whirl lol

Cool-sounds like you have talent in the family. Nice to see your daughter starting to write lyrics-doing covers will get you only so far-coming up with your own is where its at! I liked the song-one thing that disturbed me was that she referred to they guy as a "man" during the first verse than "guy" during the chorus-why not just guy? Knowing shes a teenager-then talking about that special "man" spooked me a bit lol!! The mix was good-maybe push the beat and the vox up a bit-the background vocals seemed louder than the leads- Anyway-all that aside a well done song-all the best to you and yours.

you do have some talent in the family i agree but your vocals are full and powerfull but the beggining is to powerfull and to left centered for the
and the guitars are almost non egzistanct so if you pulled them in and pulled out the violin and stuff spread it out the vocal would fit better its very good but id also spread your harmony vocal out your mix sounds 60 60 in 100 100 scale sorry im a pro tools user lol that would be a lot better for you and center your harmonyies they sound tilted to the left about 25 deg but over all awsome sound just bring the acoustics up or spread the violins and center the harmonies and walla lol

Real nice song, you have some talanted family there!

The vocal harmonies are especially nice.
I love the steel!

Really pro sounding, great production and writing!
No critiques here.
Sounds radio ready!

Great stuff.

Best to you,
Pete

Sounds pretty good.I like the background vocal work thats going on.It sounds a little dated with the type of groove it has.....the guitar, keyboard and drums have an 80's feel to them...who's playing the backing music?I bet they played in bands in the 80's.

It's a nice song and very good for a first effort at songwriting.I wrote some pretty mushy tunes in my teens too so dont be to hard on her.:D

It's good to see families playing music together.Keep at it!:)

80 ish

yeah, this sure sound's like some 80's pop.

dare i say debbie gibson:eek:

good stuff though!!!!!!!! it's great that ya'll do this stuff together!!!!!!!!!!!

thank's

peace

Very cool to hear a family project. My girls stay glued to the Disney channel, and this sounds like a lot of the music one hears on the various shows.
Mix sounded pretty good, although as mentioned above, guitars could come up...and I'm not real crazy about synth drums, but that's just personal preference.
Catchy tune...you should be proud of your daughter's songwriting!

Not bad at all but it is a slightly dated sound. For this kind of tune to work the bottom has to drive harder. She has a very good voice.

Great stuff Tanya. You should be proud of her. It's so nice to have a family group. I work with my family also, so I know how it feels. And nothing beats those family harmonies :)

I don't have anything critical to say. Great production, nice sound, and great singing. I personally like the style. But then I'm pretty dated myself :) The video clips on the web page are a nice touch.

Thanks for posting this.

I guess it's a problem on my end because I can't get to this tune..

I tried again..

I just tried it again, and now I can't either. Not on your end I don't think Sam. I kinda cheated, listened to it earlier, and had company drop in before I could post a reply, so I came back to do that.

Hopefully it will come back up soon.

I like it. I couldn't understand all the lyrics though. I think the lead vocal should be centered and a little louder. A great first effort.

definately a very traditional pop/country arrangement...

like you said, teenish lyrics...but, i like it...it's cool...

is this a home recording? Or did you do it somewhere else? wasn't clear on that...it sounds good to me...

sounds pretty good. nice singing. i think the arrangement and instrumentation could use some updating though. real instruments (or at least very convincing samples of real instruments) are back in for now. the drum and bass tracks are in desparate need of help.

thanks for posting. stick around.

Wow, that was different...:D (seriously that's what makes this place so cool)

Good stuff, obviously targeted at a younger crowd though.

Thanks for listening

Thanks to all of you for listening, your comments and suggestions. I'm going to go back and do some tweaking.

To answer a couple of questions.

The link was down for a while, we had a terrible storm come through late Sunday afternoon. It took out the power for many hours. Since we are the ISP and host our own site, we shut our servers down after the battery backups ran out.

Yes, this was done in our own studio. For many years we've been gathering the equipment and finally completed our recording area. We have a building across the street from our house that we recently completed a 16' X 20' recording booth. The engineering room is 20' X 25'. It's so awesome to have a dedicated space!! I'm going to post some pictures now that we finally have all the acoustic foam in.

Our main recording equipment constists of an AT 4060 mic, a Layla 20, a PC with a P4 and a SCSI hard drive. We mainly use Sonar and Gigastudio 160. My main keyboard is a Korg Trinity.
Oh and yes, we did play in a band in the 80's!!!
Thanks again. Tanya
