I recently bought the Electronic Musician/Thomson Course Technology magabook "Mastering Cubase 4," where they boast about a bonus DVD "to get up to speed quickly with Steinberg's powerful cross-platform digital audio sequencer!"
While the magabook itself has some useful articles that are Cubase 4-specific, along with some reprinted stuff, the bonus DVD is a complete sham.
There are more than a dozen video files on the disc. Other than the Steinberg promotional reel for Cubase 4, all the videos are about Cubase SX3! No, I'm not kidding. They are licensed instructional videos but NOTHING about Cubase 4! What a rip-off!
Then I noticed that the cover of this magabook is actually a picture of Cubase SX3, not Cubase 4. I mean, who are these guys fooling?
All I can tell is beware and spare yourself $13 if you are counting in getting value from the DVD.
