Hi. I had to replace my motherboard last week (a condenser on the old one ruptured). The new board's a Gigabyte, like the old one, but the new one uses DDR RAM - that seems to be the main difference. Still Pentium 4, still 512 RAM, and nothing else in the system is new. I'm running Win 98.

Here's the problem: loads of really serious stuttering in my audio program. I've tinkered with the buffers, but this is way more serious than that. Any ideas?

Oh, and a related problem: in my word processor, there's a time lag as well that didn't use to be there - I'll type a handful of characters and they won't appear on the screen for maybe two or three seconds sometimes.

Any ideas? Drivers issue? Small incompatibility with Win 98? Gremlins?

Did you get new ram?

Make sure your system bus and ram bus speeds are compatible, eg 800MHz fsb with 400MHz ram.

The Gigabyte board should come with a utility to let you adjust the multipliers etc.

if you changed motherboards, I would recommend that you format if you haven't done so.
