Im working with reaper, a delta 44 and a beasty new pc. (quad core@ 3.6, 2gb RAM, RAID0 array accross 3 discs for system, seperate data drive) and XP.

Im trying to find high quality settings that dont give me skipping or pops and clicks and i cant, other than with like 6-9ms latency. I cant believe that this machine could only manage that, it only shows tha cpu usage at like 1%...

First thing to check is the delta 44 is on its own IRQ.

Then check your video card's PCI Latency

pops and clicks have little to do with CPU power anymore. It doesn't matter how much power you have if the components dont work well. Especially a system that looks like its a gamer system.

For one thing, you've got that system overclocked. Did you underclock the PCI to keep it at stock settings? Because that card is not going to work in an overclocked slot. Same goes for the memory. OC'd memory is not good for Pro Audio, it causes alot of random instability.

Forgot to mention my mobo is a P5K premium. Nothing is overclocked except the CPU, and i thought IRQ's were handled automatically since like 5 years or more ago?

"Then check your video card's PCI Latency " What???!

If you're getting 6ms on a Delta44, you're doing about the best that card can handle. Are you trying to do live monitoring or something?
