You do nice work....but honestly, I don't see what's there to "copyright"...they're just shelves with legs.

Granted, you've turned it into DIY "plans"...but I bet someone can build almost the same thing as you, without your plans, and they certainly wouldn't be in violation of any "copyright".
And for that matter...I don't think "copyright" is what you are after for this....you need a "patent", which I doubt you will ever get for basic wood furniture.
Now...if you just want to copyright the actual *plans* so no one else can sell YOUR plans....that's possible, but again, all anyone needs to do is adjust things by a couple of inches, and they can call them their "plans".

You need to add something really unique to the design IMHO for it to be worth copyrighting or patenting....something that will really set YOUR desing appart, and give it a personal "signature"....then you got something worth marketing.
Heck, I built my own racks, console desk and wrap-around furniture...and I don't think it's anything unique...there's already a million of these kinds of things out there.
The orange colored racks/furniture in the pic is what I built....the console piece and side racks is a single unit on wheels.
Oh...explain some more about your bass trap back panel. I've not seen anyone do that....is that something you just added on instinct, or is there some kind of "math" behind it?
Is the panel also attached to the wall or is it free standing? It looks like it's hanging from a hook.....???
I'm planning to add some more bass traps, and am looking for ideas that depart from the usual stuff.....
MM, your studio looks very nice!
Unfortunately, I don't have the extra cash to have something as nice, otherwise, I would.
That is why I have developed my Low-Cost Studio Items, so I can spend what money I do get on occassion on gear instead of racks and desks and etc.
In fact, that is also why the Build Plans I do sell, sell so well.
A
lot of people don't have the conceptual capacities that you or I do, so providing them with detailed step-by-step build plans with lots of step-by-step photographs for projects that are low-cost and easy to build gives them items that get the job done for now and possibly years from now that they might not have the capcity to get otherwise.
So, why put up with cheap plastic tables and milk cartons etc when you can build some things that look pretty cool and are appropriate
As I am sure you remember, when you started out, you probably didnt have a ton of money, as is common with many who have this calling, so having the ability to make stuff can be a real financial help.
In regards to the Acoustic Panel Mounting Unit, there is math and etc to back it up.
My initial concept came from reading acoustics information written by Ethan Winer.
The first "aha!" came when he wrote about the fact that placing acoustic panels away from the wall increases bass absorption and if I remember correctly (its been a LONG time since I read this info), max distance would be 1 foot.
Secondly, he discussed the issue of people building wooden frames around their OC-703 etc panels and how that actually reduces the panels absorption capacity, and if I remember correctly (its been a LONG time since I read this info) by as much as 33%.
Thus the concept for my idea!
As an FYI, it has received the "blessings" from Ethan, GIK Acoustics and ATS Acoustics.
In fact, ATS Acoustics featured it on their website in their DIY section for years.
Copyright:
Just as I Copyright my Music, I also Copyright my DIY Build Plans as they are essentially like a small book.
Patenting:
In regards to Patenting, some of my items might not qualify for a full
Utility Patent but they just might

qualify for a Design Patent!
Gotta go!
