New here looking for advice.

Hey all,

What a great site. I am new here and looking for some direction. I would like to build a home studio and not sure where to start. If anyone could point me to a site for beginners or if anyone here could give me the basics I would need to get started. I would like to be able to send the files via the interenet to collaberate with friends back east. Ideas on hardware software and everything else would be great thanks!!!

when you have a more specific question well be glad to answer it.
if your recording by yourself you can get away with a 2 channel pre amp for starters.
if your going to be recording alot of instruments or people you will need a mixer.
Other then that a good condenser mic.
Theres plenty of free recording programs search google.

Thanks for the response. My bigest intrest in having a system that doesn't take up a lot of space and is relativly portable so I can do multitrack recording and be able to to cross country recording with friends back east.
