Sounds good. Pay him. Never get rid of your first gtr of any type. I speak from painful experience. When you're 40 having paid $120 in the past won't make any difference but having your first elec gtr still around will.

Truer words were never spoken.

And I think Yamaha makes excellent stuff at all price points.

Congrats on finding what you wanted!

Now if you can just get that whole pesky ownership thing ironed out... :D

Thanks guys. I got a reply from Yamaha.

I have an old Yamaha EG303 guitar, I think it's from a starter pack. I don't know what guage strings it came with. I think they looked like 10's. I took them off and put some 12 guages on there. Will this cause too much tension and possibly bend/warp the neck? I loosened them completely after thinking about this just in case. I think they were on there for about 10 minutes. Thanks.

Greetings,
This one more than likely came with 9's
But 10's or 11's are ok too.
12's?????

It sounds good.

Here are some Harmony Central Reviews: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Yamaha/EG-303/25/1

I think you should offer him $80.

Yea I remember reading through some of those reviews last night.

If I had known it was from a starter pack I wouldn't have agreed to $120. I could get a brand new one for probably less than that. He is including the Yamaha amp though but still...

Although it is the first guitar I've used so that is what's keeping me from getting a brand new one.

The input jack on this one is loose so that's something else I need to fix. Probably need a truss rod adjustment now too cause the B string is buzzing when played open or on every fret (unless it's from not being seated in the nut all the way).
