Hey,

So this is my first attempt to record anything (using Sonar 5), and it has been an extremely fun and humbling process for about 2 months now. Really looking for honest critique on my mixing/overall sound. It honestly sounds a touch muddy and dull to me. Overall levels are slightly low, as I've tried not to squash/limit it too much at this point. Any feedback would be tremendously appreciated. I really want to learn and improve, so feel free to let 'er rip!!!

3 mp3s can be found here in the audio section of our EPK website, thanx!

We're a bizarro blend of rock and everything else, called The Daily Afflictions. Of the three tunes on the EPK, one's a jazz piece that morphs into an Alice In Chain-sy thing morphing yet again into a spaced out radiohead thing. The second tune is an acoustic fingerpickin' tune, and the third tune is a straight ahead rocker. We don't really like genres much....

"Lady behind the glass"
Very special combination of chords. Jazzy! Good recording. Good sound too.
There are some messy parts with a lot of noise in them but that’s how it’s suppose to be I guess.
I liked vox.. Good singer, nice voice and it’s sitting fine in mix.
Very good. The stuff at the and is cool but maybe song doesn't necessarily need it.
I’ll comment your other songs later.
See you!

Thanks~

Hey Sikter,

Thanks for the kind words! I'm always trying to fit dissonant sounding chord progressions with more conventional chords, so I'm glad you liked it. The big loud choruses can be cleaned up a bit, I'm somewhat struggling with getting well mic'd distorted guitars right now, will continue to work on it.

On a side note, I briefly checked out your song-site, and gotta say I love that main photo you have! We were looking for a demo cover that captures the essance of our song "Lady behind the Glass", somewhat sexy, somewhat eerie/disturbing, and that photo fits it perfectly. We wound up using something else, but very cool to see it! I'm not familiar with the language the text on it is? If you don't mind me asking, what does it say translated in english? Also, I'm on a slow as snails dailup connection, but I'll definitely give your tunes a listen in the next day or two on a faster hookup, and respond to your threads. Cheers!

Hello again!
The picture you are interesting in is actually an advertising poster for theatre show called “Chicago”.
I took the picture after a one of ours last gigs back in 2001 (Norway).
Text is in Norwegian and says: 60 000 sold tickets on the top of it and
“ last show Jun 15th in new theatre house in Oslo” in the bottom of it.
You can view the picture and even download it here (you can view it in full size by clicking on it)

I don’t mind if you use it. I don’t consider myself as the one who has rights for this cool picture. Someone else made this piece of work. I only made a copy with my camera.
It really looks like “your” lady behind the in glass. Poster is actualy behind the glass if you take a closer look.

See you around
