where you planning on reciprocating...or is this one of those newbie, one sided affairs...?...kinda like a one nighter...:(

Yes, 'm looking forward to establishing correspondence with others here who are also home recording enthusiasts. Hoping to learn, exchange and support others. I hope you can help me. Thanks for listening if you did. Cheers!

Koto stream:
I understand the title now. Nice rhythmic thing going....but I feel I could start anywhere in the song, and it wouldn't matter. The recording is nice, but I might classify it as a musical idea VS a song...which is ok...nice ending. good stereo field too.

Redicule #5
I like this kind of electronic music. I see you use the roland gtr. I have a gr-33 and like it a lot. As a 2nd listen to your stuff, I like this best so far....more electronic. It is very repetitive, and some more *ear candy* might be nice. again...nice recording quality...but being all electric/synthetic sounds, I suppose it might be hard to screw up to bad. The break at 1:47 with the new synth sound is very good...and needed. Nice to have the real sounding drums at 2:18...the song then kicks into gear. ...needs to be cranked. good friggin stuff! At about 3:30, an new feel/beat...would be nice. would make nice electronica/dance music, I suppose...I just like to listen to this stuff...and the different ideas coming frequently would keep it interesting as a stricktly listening viewpoint...

Waiting:
nice synth pads.....and the again..nice recording quality. I don't think that is an issue with your stuff....just the imagination:p Again...strickly to listen....not as background stuff....it is a little lacking, but very cool, mind you. It could have more changes...

Let me in:
well...this is a different direction....and I see your Pink floyd reference. I like the long verb tails, bass sound, vocals...it all is very good. Your website pics show a gtr player and a drummer...is that it? This would go as a good background for a movie trailout... kinda one level again...very linear, musically...

conversation:
this is kinda U2 sounding...very ambient sounding, with a big *wash* of sound. very good, but it sounds to MUCH like U2!

phew....that's all for now...

Nice stuff

Wow. Lots of good stuff here. Here are some random comments.

I thought "Let me in" was great.

"Waiting" left me "wanting" more. I kept waiting or it to take off, but it never did.

"Conversation" is promising, but I think the rythmn guitar dominates. You might pull it down in the mix and pull up the base (which gets lost).

embryo:Thanks! you are spot on my man! It was an experiment and so it was never intended to be a song. It was originally done on a 4 track cassette machine with layers of delay treated electric guitars and ebows. Glad that you fancied it. I'm working on a variation of this idea at the moment. Feel free to contribute arrangement ideas ya. :)

embryo: the roland gtr synth (gr-1)is like a godsend for me which allowed me to explore timbres outside of the the typical range of guitar tones which is rather wide anyway with with today's range of effects. I agree with your suggestions about introducing some crank to the piece at places for dynamics! back to the drawing board... :)

embryo: all the synth pad sounds were actually my strat ging through the digitech gsp 2101's chain of pitch shifters, delays and envelope filters. this piece was my attempt at trying to achieve an aural landscape that's constantly morphing into something else throughout the duration of the piece. the complete version of this piece is close to 60 mins. inspired by pink floyds echoes and manuel gotsching's e2-e4. I'm still workin on it....like forever hahaha :)

embryo: i've been a fan of pink floyd since my musician uncle first introduced "the wall" and "darkside of the moon" to me when i was 12 yrs old. mind you i was into the bee gees and abba cause that was all they played on singapore's national radio then hahaha :) i'm also a big fan of david gilmour's present incarnation of pink floyd. the pic was taken from a recent gig which actually features the band as a 3 piece gtr, drum and bass though you can't see the bassist in the pic. movie trailer? my that would be so cool....maybe someone can point me to the right direction for remastering it ? :)

embryo: this song is actually my idea of combining my love for" the sundays" and "u2" hoping to realise that combination. i take your comments as very positive thank you. guess it's time to move away from the close resemblance then...:)

phew....that's all for now...

Man! thanks alot for your kind attention and time in listening and sharing your thoughts about the music. It really means alot to me!
As i said...I'm still working on 'em and others at the same time. All this home recording technology has been a dream come true for me and it's been great pleasure to share my bunch of songs with you. thanks!

just to say

I am new so I can`t really comment on the mix but I listened to Converstaion, Let me in and Time fade Away.

The recordings are really well done and sound pro. The way you sing though, it has Bono written all over it. I like it but when I listened to Time Fade Away, yeh now were talking. It was just you and the guitar. YOUR voice was starting to come out on it and well it was the best of the bunch for me! Simple, perfectly sung and original.

Show me more like that one please! That one is staying on my computer.

I too love the fact that with digital we can create the stuff and quality we always dreamed without spending every penny. For me, the learning curve is huge!

bye

Ps. Stay with this forum, its the place to be.

Hi Steve,
thanks for checkin' it out man. Here's my reply to your response to the songs you heard;

Let Me In: I'm glad that you liked it. This tune was one of those "hmmm...I have a four track cassette machine with a 32 track song idea" :). I really love David Gilmours "Coming Back to Life" on Pink Floyd's "Division Bell" . Hehehehe...so the truth is I'm going for the Abbey Road Studio sound with my bedroom setup....silly as it is! LOL!

Waiting: Yeah I agree, I'm still workin on the "We've got Lift Off" part. Hey, plse feel free to suggest ideas ya.

Conversation: The song originally started out as a jingle jangle song idea on acoustic gtr and was actually intended for a lady (ex girlfriend) to sing but....long story LOL! Anyway my guys decided that I may as well put me guide voice on tape and it's been there eversince...I still feel that I sound like a wannabe bono who's trying to be a harriet wheeler (sundays) or something LOL!!!!

Thanks once again for listening, I'd like to welcome your mixing and arranging ideas too ok? Cheers!

:)

Hi Erland,

Thanks for sharing your precious time. I believe that you have a very sensitive heart too ya. You've struck a chord here with me. "Time Fade Away" is very dear to me because most of the other tunes on mp3.com were very much thought out and constantly worked and reworked upon. Great fun though. However on Time Fade Away the tune was something that came out straight from the heart into the adat tape. this happened at a time when i was getting alot of inspiration from the music of "david sylvian" In other words this was something that was more heartfelt than anything else. I have other tunes that are in this vein too and will post them up soon. It's great to have met you guys and a pleasure to be with the forum. Hey I'd like to check your music too fellas! Cheers!

Hey mixmkr, thanks! it's a pleasure to be in the company of others sharing the same passion. It's an honour and I would like to thank you guys for making this all possible. Not so lonely anymore in this obsessive pursuit for the magical "blue note" that pleases and heals....as usual I'm a dreamer but now I know that I'm not alone. Thanks man.
