I am also looking for advice for some of the slower parts of the song. At 1:40 and 2:36 there slower parts of the song. I wanted to change it up a bit and not have it all blast beats or double bass kicks. I am looking for feedback from drummers or anyone else that has programed drums for some editing help.

Thank you.

Song is sounding good!

I've got some advice for the slow parts if you want it. The part at 1:40 is just dying to have the ride cymbal going in steady 1/8th triplets through that whole section (matching the pace of the palm mutes on the guitar). Think Cannibal Corpse....Paul does that alot (as do a shitload of other drummers, but some Corpse stuff pops into my head that has that steady ride cymbal). Halfway through it would sound bad-ass to pick up the bass drums to a steady 1/8 note triplet rhythm too.
At 2:36, I think the ride cymbal would sound better there too, but maybe alternating between that and the bell every couple of hits. Some tricky patterns here and there on the kicks would be cool too.

This is a song that I would enjoy programming drums to!

Not sure if you have listened to my latest mix above with all the vocals even over the slower parts. I don't think you have as the time stamps you listed were off about 12 seconds as I added something to the begining of the song.

Thanks for the suggestions as I will willing to try and work on the drums as much as I can. I am just a little confuesed, you said "ride cymbal going in steady 1/8th triplets ", are you suggesting some like:

ride, ride, ride sare ride, ride, ride snare ride, ride ride snare

Total triplets and not a steady ride cymbal?

You think half way thru I whould match the kick with the ride like such:

kick---kick---kick-------kick---kick---kick
------------------snare-------------------snare
ride---ride---ride--------ride---ride---ride

Something like that? This is for the riff starting at 1:49 lasting till 2:13

This riff is now at 2:45. So the ride with some of the ride bell? No triplets correct, just on the 1 and 2 (kick and snare)?

Yeah....I agree that some tricky patterns with the kick would be cool but I have been trying different things but can not get it to sound good/corect...LOL

I have ben trying to listen to some songs with slower parts like this to get (steel) some ideas but just can't get it done.

Work in progress on the drums...

I'll try to write out what I'm thinking....

R = ride, S = snare, K = kick

R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R
_-_-_-S-_-_-_-_-_-S-_-_-_-_-_-S-_-_-_-_-_-S-_-_
K-_-_-_-_-_-K-_-_-_-_-_-K-_-_-_-_-_-K-_-_-_-_-_

The ride being steady the same speed as the the plam mutes on the guitar. The palm mutes are in 1/8 note triplets. If you laid down a steady ride like that through the whole thing it would sound bitchin.

Then I think picking up the pace with the kick drum would be cool. I said 1/8 triplets, but I think 1/16 triplets would sound even cooler, especially with the half time ride. Like this:

R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R
_-_-_-S-_-_-_-_-_-S-_-_-_-_-_-S-_-_-_-_-_-S-_-_
K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K
-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K

Just think of the ride cymbal matching the drummer's right foot on the kicks.

Yeah, I think that part would sound cool with a slow ride bell. Like half time of what you're doing on the hat in that part now. Just accenting the kick and snare hits more or less. Maybe alternating between that (1/4 notes on the bell) and 1/8 notes on the ride every other measure or something like that. I like the sound of a slow bell behind a quick flurry on the kick drums too.

Thanks allot for the info Metalhead. I am going to try and it see how it sounds, might take a few postings to get it to esactly where you think it should be but that if cool. I am open to trying and learing just about anything with programing drums. I will post once I have it done.
