I've begged for help before and here I am again. I have a ASIS cusl2-c, PIII 933 based daw just built. Every thing runs ok, but.... I have configured the bios for IRQ settings assigning each in-use slot to an IRQ, N/A setting on all unused slots, disabled the pnp os toggle, disabled power management settings, selected AGP for video and installed win 2k on dual boot using Masterbooter. The first time I ran the system all device settings were correct. After a reboot Win put all agp and pci devices on IRQ 9. Bios settings. I also am getting an unknown PCI device reading on bus 0.

IRQ 2 - delta 44
IRQ 11 - US Robotics modem
AGP slot - Matrox G450 vid card

BTW Cakewalk PA 9 only shows 1 Delta 44 on source, not 4 ins and 4 outs.

Do I need to seek professional help. Most of my friends say so.

Windows2K is assigning your IRQs not the bios, so changes made in the bios are having no effect on your irq assigning .. I have the same problems on IRQ 11 with 6 shares... my OS teacher says that 2k has USB issues that could be causing this.. but it has not affected my system at all... so I dont worry about it---- Is there a performance problem on your computer because of your conflicts --like IDE?>>????

Why did you disable PNP and decided to assign all the IRQ's on your own? The operating system will do the best job of that unless you really feel the need to do so and I dont see your reason yet.
Right now I say let it configure itself the way it sees fit, and you may eliminate a problem. I can't imagine Win2k assigning more than one device to an IRQ when properly set up. You may have everything assigned to 9 by disabling everything but. Make sense? Fix it back and try it.

I'm with tubedude....

Restore the defaults in your bios and let windows handle the IRQs for you.

Ive tried that numerous times with no results, I did find that unplugging my USB scanner and printer quickly solved the IRQ conflicts, but I just leave them plugged in because I dont have a performance problem.

I havn't recorded anything yet, I'm still setting up, so I don't know if it's broke. Besides, cakewalk only shows the delta as one input so I'm not ready to even try. The first time I installed the os I used the default bios settings and win setup the system as follows. I have formated and reinstalled win. I always get the same IRQ settings. If you guys think this is ok I'll press on. When I was using a lesser machine with 98 I had sync problems with shared IRQs. I forgot to mention that I have a Midiman 4x4 plugged in too.

IRQ Number Device
9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
9 Matrox Millennium G450 DualHead - English
9 U.S. Robotics 56K Fax Win Int
9 M Audio Delta 44
9 Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller
9 Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller
8 System CMOS/real time clock
13 Numeric data processor
6 Standard floppy disk controller
4 Communications Port (COM1)
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse
14 Primary IDE Channel
15 Secondary IDE Channel
3 PCI Device
***** This device shows up as a problem and I have no idea what it is. It's not a PCI card.

I'm not using Win2000 yet for anything, let along my audio setup, however I have heard numerous stories from those who are about 2000 placing all devices on the same IRQ. I hope it is just a bug in reporting the IRQs, I don't THINK it is actually DOING that, but I don't know. But it is an issue for sure.

Hey AFI... The only similarities between you and I are the USB natural keyboard... I bet when you unplug any USB device from your computer almost all your conflicts go away. I dont know why, but USB is causing the problem

Thanks, I'll try and let you know. Kinda makes it hard to do midi though. Any suggestions.

Well, I unplugged all UBS and the extra ports on the MOBO. No luck. I ran windows setup. No change.

Hmmm suprising... are you running your computer in its standard speed or advanced speed settings?

All settings are standard. I even restored the default bios. Once I set the IRQs in the bios and install 2k on a clean disk. When the sys booted all settings were right. I installed the drivers for all the hardware, rebooted and 2k placed everyting on IRQ 9. I suppose I can start fresh again, install one card at a time to see if one of them is causing the problem. Is the ACPI system causing the trouble?
