Hallo everybody,

what do you think of the following DAW componenets:

Genuine Intel Pentium 4 processor 800MHz
Intel D865 Perl motherboard
1GB DDRAM memory
120GB Western Digital 7200RPM Hard Drive
ATI AGP Graphics Card with 32MB + TV out
LG 52X CD-ROM Drive
17" SVGA Samsun
US Robotics 56K Internal Fax Modem

please Advice :)

I think you've made a mistake with your P4 specs..... I think you meant to write 800Mhz fron bus speed, 800mhz processors haven't been around for years now :)
Might be better of for DA work to have 2 separate hard disks, on for the the OS and program files, the other dedicated for audio. Other than that it looks OK.

Can't really comment on P4 systems since I never build them but you might want more monitor. At least a 19" CRT or 17" LCD. DAW software needs alot of screen realstate

I would say go for a big 21" screen (remember to pay attention to viewable screen size, which is different from monitor to monitor). I got a 19" and it seems small to me, not really when playing games, or going online, but when I load up the Reason demo, or the Fruity Loops demo, I could DEFINITELY see a good reason to have a larger monitor. A Dual monitor system would be REALLY sweet!

I might also go a little bigger on the graphics card, not sure what the price difference is but I think you can get 64mb ones pretty cheap, but if not I guess that should be fine for what you want to do....but I'm using my computer for gaming also so I have a hard time saying 32mb is okay ;)

or you could upgrade to a better vcard like a geforce 5200... you can get one with dual monitor support and then run two smaller monitors. I am running a GeForce 5200 card by PNY and I have two Viewsonic A75F monitors. I love this setup!
