New computer for recording

hmmm

for $579 shipped hmm.
Don't buy Windows from them, pretty much don't do any of the 'upgrades'.

Don't go $35 for the 120 drive, rather save that towards a 2nd HDD if you don't have one already to seperate your programs from audio data.

Especially on the RAM, $59 more for 512MB DDR 2100- they are using cheap stuff.

and I don't like only three PCI slots, but that's me...I've got 6 PCI slots and I've only got one free...

But if this is going to be strictly for recording, then three PCI slots might just do.

You might still want to look around, you might be able to still find a better deal...

I wish they'd be more detailed as to what components they are using rather than the 'immediate numbers'. Like it'd be nice if they said what brand RAM, and drives (cd, cd-rw, hard drive) they are using.

I'm pretty sure you can find a better deal around somewhere else that has better quality parts...

I would not touch a P4 with a Via chipset. Not good for audio. Via with AMD is fine, but not P4s.

I would never buy a computer from Ebay people. I have enough trouble with Ebay as it is.
