Not offended at all doc. I appreciate you listening and commenting.

I had to go back and listen to em to see what you’re saying. I'll admit that Hot Brown might be kinda hard to stick with. I was just grabbing some samples off disks to see what Acid 3.0 was like to use. But The Holster… Come on … I’d flip the hell outta that for days. Oh well…

Anybody else feeling like Beathovan?

I know I’ve been slipping on the comments on other beats but I’ve been in a slump type thing. Kinda hard to comment on shit when you’re not hearing anything right. Plus just been to lazi.

Ima peep em later when I get home..

Rat Diggy...

Lazi,
don't worry about B-Hove,he's a hard judge:D

Personally,I feel both of these joints........
1)Holster-off the hook
2)Hot Brown Tin-not really a northern rap beat..I can hear a deep southern group lacin' it though...like the Nappy Roots or somebody like that....I love that baseline son

keep 'em comin' dawg

OK, I changed my opinion a bit. When I listened to those beats, it was 00:30 AM, I was coming back from work, I was really tired and I was listening on headphones... Surely not the best conditions to listen to beats!

Those are innovative rap beats... Almost techno but still not.

I could hear the Holster being ripped by Drag-On. Sounds like a 'Twisted Heat' type of beat... That's why I think Drag-On could rip this beat.

Hot Brown Tin could definitly be used by Outkast... That's some freaky shit! Last night, I was feeling the synths were sounding techno but listening to it again, it sounds more like some horrorcore beat... But the feeling makes me think of Outkast so...

Keep bangin' bro...

(P.S.: I'm still not able to rap something like that...)
(P.S.2: Is 'Hot Brown Tin' written in 4/4?)

Holster is cool... Like the kick drum and the whole electric dark feelin the track brings....

Lazi this other joint is bangin... I like that snar sound got that James brown sound... and the main loop is mad grimey.. Mesa like this beat.......

Keep em bangin...

Raticus

I like the Dark feel to it.

Hot Brown really grabbed me, some beats kind of ditate the kind of flow u'll have to use. This is an anything goes beat u can get as creative as u want.

Holster was ok, i'm not much of a fan of fast kick drums. I know it sounds odd being I'm from the south.

but i gotta give you props on your of background sounds. thats what i'm drilling myself to improve on.

I am with you on that.

I am from the south and I hate the club beat bull Sh*t.

Give me a Dark beat.

One of these days when I can figure out how to upload songs on the web I will let you all hear the album we just got done wit.

Lazi,
looks like you did it again

Word ya'll. That's love. On the real though I’m just trying keep up with ya'll cats. I know I’ve been slipping on the responses and all but I’ve still been peeping how cats in this BBS are about elevating their game. I’m just trying to bring something to the table. If it doesn’t swallow right then let me know cuz I’m trying to be a phat M.F.

Beathovan, I'm glad you listened again doc. Preciate that. I know you take it serious so it's always love. Goo or bad.

Ya'll like the dark beats too huh? It's in the lifestyle I guess. Kinda like everyday drama that you can nod your head to.

Glad ya'll could feel em. Preciate ya'll taking the time to listen and respond.

LAZI,

I’m feelin the direction you’re going with this Hot Brown Tin, but it’s not hiphop. Sounds like the makings of a good atmospheric drum & bass tune. Listen to some of the master LTJ Bukem and you’ll hear what I mean.

The rest of the sounds need to come way up relative to the drums and bass - at least 3dB. I would also introduce the bass later. Let that ambient beginning play out a little longer.

Yeah, add some sparkly chime sounds, maybe some Rhodes piano stabs, a bit more reverb, perfect your production skills, and you’ve got yourself one cool little track to go on the next Good Looking Records compilation.:)

Preciate the listen Foot.

I was in the process of tweaking Hot Brown when I peeped the write to wave file option and decided to give it a try. ACID str8 crashed after writing the file. No more Hot Brown. And damn... You're hearing the Rhodes too. That was my very next step. Now I'm mad again:mad: :( :) ;) :D . AHhh... On to the next beat.

I think a really creative cat can do something nice with it on the hihop tip. That's why it's for the DL. I had a couple ideas myself but nothing i'm gona fuck with. I wouldn't mind hearing what somebody can do with it though. I doubt If i'm gonna use it for anything myself. I'll probably just end up putting it on a beat cd.

Peace.

P.S. I got some new joints with some similarities. Maybe try for those to see Good Looking. :)

Drums are programmed very well... more than I do with the drums. Sound like live drums... like an actual drummer.

The bassline is cool, the epic strings in the back are cool as well.

The breakdowns are cool, this is a solid joint.

Lazi,

I wrote up a very detailed review of the tracks but Explorer crashed on me. I'll reiterate.

"The Holster" - Interesting drum programming. If you added more dynamics to the drum track it would give a more organic sound, which I think would benefit the tracks greatly. Not really digging the bass instrument, not low enough. I like the background strings. I could hear Outkast possible flowing over this.

"Hot Brown Tin" - I like the sounds you're using, especially that ethnic intrument. The bassline is pretty much funk/fusion but the drum sequence is more like a shuffle pattern, which seems to conflict with the bassline. Try syncopating the hi-hat pattern and having the kick hit with the bass in at least a couple places per measure. I can't really hear rap over this.

Overall, I like your creativity on these 2 tracks. They show that you're trying to push the bar for this genre and I respect that.

Keep 'em coming.

I was taken with your comment about it being your first foray into the Acid Realm. I'm right there myself.

I liked the idea and the tone of that bassline in Hot Brown Tin but there's a stutter in it that bugs me.

Holster is NOT unrappable, it just needs to mixed a lot lower than other other background beats for rap and it takes some major rapping talent.

Nice start.

Thanks for the feedback ya'll.

Word Stray. I peeped something about the drums on the Holster cut last time I peeped it. I got some more things going into it when I get around too it. And as far as Hot Brown...It's gone. All i got is the stereo wave file. I haven't really been using Acid lately but hope to drop some new joints from it soon. Hopefully they'll pick up somewhere around where i was lacking on Hot Brown.

Preciate it. Peace ya'll.
