I kinda have an internet band, with people across the country and this song is a cover that we recorded before we do any originals. Any feedback on the mix?

It sounds real cool. Although when the distorted guitar kick in it's a little harsh on the ears and the drums could be a little louder. It sounds like linkin park playing system of a down lol.... Internet band is a cool idea. Like face book you can keep in touch with friends and family and not have deal with them in real life :p

Do you mean when it kicks in during the chorus? Would cutting the higher EQ a little bit help with the harshness?
Thanks for the feedback! Ya an internet band is cool, but the thing that sucks is trying to talk to people (cause of different time zones) so it takes longer to get stuff done

I think it just comes in way louder than needed. I think over all the guitars could come down a little and maybe the vocals and that would make the drums naturally sound louder and they wont sound like they are in the background as much. Just experiment :D

Will do, thanks for the feedback man!

The cymbals sound a little washy for me and the vocal is a little essy. What bitrate on MP3 - that can cause those issues... The lead part is fizzy - wrong pedal :-) . Great tune and the vocalist has a classic tone. One of my 2 favorite songs today....

This is pretty impressive, IMO, to have been done over the internet. What are the logistics involved with this? Emailing multitrack MP3's and each band member adds their part? Anyway, I'm somewhat new to this forum so I was curious about that but this tune is pretty nice work.

That's basically what we did. We used email and dropbox to transfer files. We started with the drum track, I added rhythm guitar and bass to it, then emailed it to the vocalist. He added vocals then sent it back to me, then I mixed all the parts. Also, I updated the link above after I fixed some things suggested by people on here.

Do the other contributors use their own software programs or does everyone use the same program? I think this would be a fun thing to participate in.

The vocalist/lead guitar guy uses GarageBand and Podfarm, as do I. The drummer uses FL Studio, and hey, if anyone on here is ever down to do a collab with me, I'm always willing and able! We do originals and covers

-also, if anyone wants to see the video we did of this song, it's right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYqxKpSmc9s

Internet bands are great. I'm in so many I lost track a while ago. Anyway - this sounds good - but I'm with phil. All the parts sound great, maybe play with the levels to get things to gel up a little. Love to hear this with real drums.....
