I was planning to get a new audio interface for recording guitar and vocals mostly, but at a really high quality. I'm looking for anything between the price range of 1000 to 1500 USD. RME - FIREFACE 400 is the only only that I have come up with so far. It would be really helpful if you guys could through some suggestions that I can consider.
It really depends on many things. How many inputs you need? Do you want build in DSP effects? USB or Firewire? High quality really depends on the mic, preamps, recording environment, mixing, mastering and so forth. Are vocals (meaning only yours) and guitars (meaning you only recording one guitar) all your doing with the interface? If so, 1000-$1500 might be overkill. I would recommend something like a Focusrite Saffire Pro, hell, even the Scarlett 2i2 would work. You could save a ton of money if you really eliminate the things you don't need in an interface.
