Has anyone got a line 6 amp? if so has it got a good range/overdrive/clean sound.
I play mostly rock and a little classical.
I have been thinking about a new amp from what I currently have(Marshall VS100R Valvestate head and 4 x 10 cabinet), any suggestions on hat to try out, I have heard crate do really good heads.

yea crates are allright, but mesa boogies are awesome
and ive heard good things about fender heads.

if u are set on crate , you might want to try and crate tube head that goes for around 600 dollars

it has black and blue cosmetics and has a really really good sound

DEFINITELY check out the ax2, best line 6 and amp i've played, 900 bucks WITH the floorboard, its awsome, flexible in all ways, and amazing for live AND recording. Perfect for all genres, maybe not the blues tube sound, but everything else. Plus it doubles as a pa WITH your guitar plugged in already (i do that with my band), 2 separate inputs for that.

Well if ur gettin a line 6 they can pretty much imatate any sound!
But u have got to rember u r gettin a digital sound and only a replica of a tube sound of a amp!
If I was buying a new amp I would just get a decent tube head!
Let me see what fits in that range! hmmmm!
Depending on how much u can spend get a Marshall if u r on a budget but apart from that 2 words! Messa Boogie! I ave to admitt it! They are not just over priced amps! They are beauties and worth every penny :)! Hmmmm! Must get myself one of those one day! :D

You want to get rid of a Marshall for a Crate?!

What dont you like about your Marshall? The only thing a POD may do better is more modern distortion sounds.

Keep in mind he has a Marshall Valvestate. Kind of an entry-level Marshall.

A Marshall TSL or even DSL would be a drastic improvement for rock if you like the Marshall tone. Even better IMHO are the Boogies. Depending on the model, you can get both shimmering clean and searing lead tones. Fenders *generally* don't rock as hard as Marshalls or Boogies.

Regarding Crates, you *may* be able to get a better one than a Valvestate. You can definitely get a worse one.

Regarding the Line 6 stuff, I'm not a big fan, but it will probably sound better than and it will definitely be more versatile than a Valvestate.

My marshall sound is just getting a bit old/boring, even with an effects pedal I cant seem to find a sound I want.

I tried a line 6 spider yesterday, they seem ok, definately better than my marshall, also tried a Marshall TSL and that is amazing.

I am looking for a real heavy sound and next on the try out list is a Messa Boogie!

Cheers for the info/input peple!
