thanks a lot for all guys.

I started visiting this forum in october 2004 when I decided to upgrade my home studio. Until that time I recorded acoustic and electric guitars with a pair of 35 years old Sennheiser MD 421 and voices with shure SM58 to soundblaster live with APS driver. After buying an audiophil 24/96 m-audio recording card and a soundcraft compact mixer I found out that I record only a part of that what I heard. It was a long way to get the right microphones for my purposes, but now it is done.
All inspiration to test different mics came from YOU (no names - too many threads helped me).

All the following mics I had in my studio for many days (or weeks) and I've tested them for voice and guitar (Martin D-35S, Guild D-35NT and G-37, Dobro 36 The Rose, and different harps).

AKG C3000B
MXL 990
MXL V67G
Rode NT1
Rode NT2
Rode NTK
Rode K2
Neumann TLM103
Oktava MK-219
AKG C1000
Oktava MK-012 MSP
MXL 603S MSP
Rode NT1000 MSP
Elation KM201
Elation KM901
Nevaton MC-51
Nevaton MC-416
Neumann KM184

The winning team:
Neumann TLM 103 and KM184 MSP

Also a good choice:
1. Rode K2, MXL603S
2. Rode NTK, Oktave Mk-012
3. Rode NT1000 (maybe the best value for money - not so crisp and detailed as TLM103, but with a little EQ???)

The looser with great distance:
MXL990, V67G, Rode NT1, NT2, AKG C1000

Nevaton and Elation are very good - but not good enaugh for that money they're sold for.

Congratulations! I've had good success with those same two mics as a stereo pair for acoustic guitar. Plus, the TLM103 works great for my wife's voice.
Have fun!

Regards,
Terry

Congratulations indeed, now that you dont need those old sennheisers I'll take them off your hands for a $100 :D

Haha nah, I think its probably too much to ship them to Ireland, so I guess he'll have to sell them to me instead. :)

for sale - accepted???

... yes, the Sennheisers are for sale now - is it accepted to announce that in this forum? Sorry if not.

Leo

You may want to put this in the "For Sale" forum, but I think Paddy's got first dibs. How much are you asking?
