For those who may be interested in how a mic is made. Good article.

I saw microphones in every state of construction from beginning to end, from the shaping of raw metal stock, to capsule milling, clean room operations, final assembly, and anechoic chamber testing. I actually got to sit inside an anechoic chamber while a U87 Ai was being tested — but more on that in a bit.

That day, I took a great many photographs, with the understanding that I would need to submit them for approval before publication, lest I reveal a supplier or process whose details would be detrimental to the company’s financial well-being. This exercise was as quick and predictable as the German train system. And yet I never published the story, nor the photos, until now…

I was gonna make a smart-ass comment about defeating the purpose of an anechoic chamber by having someone sit in, but I see they've covered that. :(

Nice find.
Thanks.

Hey, it's not allowed to post links to p*rn sites here ;)

(I'm off to find some tissues 'cause I've made a mess...)

I'm about an hour from the plant in Connecticut ..... I need to go.

And it's not even a citrus state...

The Callawy Corvettes are made there, too. And they make submarines just up the road. ( I wrote a song about a submarine!!)

... and that's about it for CT. Nothing else.

I thought grey was the formal color.

"Haze grey and underway" is only for targets... er... I mean surface ships.

We popped up in the middle of a russian taskforce returning to the Kola Peninsula one cold and dark winter night, during the height of the cold war. Everything was black, you just couldn't see anything. I was able to identify about 75% of their ships based solely on their running lights. I was on top of my game back then. They never knew we were there. It was pretty cool.

I never got into the yellow submarine album. I always thought the songs on that album were kind of goofy. heresy, I know.

Sneaky. I was on the other side of the spectrum as a demolition expert in the 82nd airborne division.
I basically jumped out of airplanes with explosives. How smart is that?
