Nero will not recognize my CD-RW. Any ideas why?

I'm using a Sony CD-RW CRX230E, and Nero v.5.5 that came with my old TDK cd-rw.

Under choose recorder, the only thing available is Image Writer. I get the same thing when I use this NTI CD Maker Plus burning program that came with my computer.

But...

I know the cd-rw works because I can burn using Windows Media Player :-/ I'd much rather use nero!

Any help appreciated!

The free versions of Nero that come with players are specifically limited to the hardware they come with. To get the general version, you gotta pay extra.

Thanks laptop!
I've done a little research and found that out as well. And after reading some reviews at Newegg on this particular drive, I've found a few other users have had the exact same problem! Even the bundled software doesn't recognize the damn thing.
Anyone else using this burner have the same problems?

Go to the nero website and download the updates for your software, and see if it helps.
