Hey all

This is my first post. I got a Behringer Eurorack MX602A Mini Mixer for Christmas. My computer has a new Sound Blaster Sound Card. My first question is probably really stupid but I just don't know. What kind of cable/adapter do I need to get my digital sound from the mixer into my sound card? Which port on my sound card do I use? Is there more than one option?

I am just beginning and only going to record my vocals through an SM57 mic and my acoustic guitar through a sound hole pick up--both running into my mixer and from there into my sound card. With my basic Creative Recorder software that came with my sound card it asks me to choose my input( Mic, auxillary, line in, TAD-in...) Which one do I use for this purpose? Any other advice that you might think helpful would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for all input :~)

Goto radioshack or equivalent and get two 2 RCA -> 1/8" stereo cables. Connect the tape out of the mixer to the line in of the soundblaster, and the line out to the tape in on the mixer. Connect your speakers to the ctrl room out. When you have the 2tk to ctrl room button depressed you will hear the output of the soundblaster, with the button up you will hear what is going into the soundblaster.

There is no digital sound coming out of the mixer. It's analog until it gets into the SoundBlaster card, which digitizes it so the computer can handle it.

something is not right

You suggested I use 1/8" (RCA) stereo cables. However, my sound card doesn't have RCA stereo cable connections. My tape in and our on my mixer do have 1/4" RCA stereo left and right channels but not on my sound card. I think your advice will not work for me. Can you clarify for me or----Can anyone tell me what cable/adapter to use to get my signal from my Behringer mixer into my sound card/computer.

Thanks

The tape ins and outs on your mixer are rca. Your soundblaster uses 1/8" stereo. You do not need to use the 1/4" mono main outs on the mixer. Please read my previous post again - it is correct. Do not confuse rca with 1/8 or 1/4".

alfalfa is saying you need a cable that has one stereo 1/8" miniplug on one end and two RCA plugs on the other end...

You can also find cables with one stereo 1/8" miniplug on one end and two 1/4" mono plugs on the other end.

One more question

Thanks to both alfalfa and alchuck for your help. I finally have a picture of what I need. However, I need one more question answered if you can. I have looked everywhere for this. I have a Sound Blaster Live sound card. I have looked everywhere but can't find out what the 5 different 1/8" ports are for. I know it is a multi - channel sound card. The guy at the local music store said that there is a possiblility that I would use 2 inputs and 2 outputs(ie.4 cables) I am not sure which ones are inputs and outputs. The middle one is a microphone port which I know I won't be using. My Harmon Kardon HK695 spearker/subwoofer setup uses 2 of the ports. I have looked everywhere and the model number of the sound card is not the same as any on the sound blaster site so I lost. Any help here again greatly appreciated. :)
