Need URgent help

Hi im 15 and have for a few years now been submerging my self in the recording studio life. And recently have starrted building my own studio. At the moment i have an akai dps24 recorder im using a suround sound monitor set and a pair of small moniors that i switch between a korg triton studio in one part of my studio . I have a single rack patch bay that i use to conect to another much smaller studio with an 8 track, so i can switch from studio to studio. but im stuck i notice that alot of the sounds im getting are bland and have no punch and i really want to get the punch and i dont know what i need, if anyone would be so kind as to just telling me what devices i chould get and if anyone else has a similar studio i would appreciate it greatly if you chould post a diagram or your set up

Suggest that you deal with the Akai and learn its full fuctions and possibilities in a single studio set up.

Don't know too many recording folks who record in surround sound; but, then, I don't know all the answers either.

But, I like the fact that you are dealing in challenging ideas and you should keep on that track. But, get to know one box first and then move ahead.

Here is my $.02 worth

First, How much do you have to work with or how much do you plan on spending on this project? I don't know any one who is doing recording that ever gets finished spending $$$.
I know you said your 15. That's great that you have a direction that you want to go. When I was 15 I just wanted to goof off, play pinball (guess I told my age) and tweek on my car.
But remember this. Technology changes fast!!! Electronics depreciate fast in value!!!

That being said:

2nd, Have you considered eBay? There are a lot of deals (Good & BAD) on there. Also I know you are suppose to be 21 or there abouts to buy off eBay but if your parents are cool they will help you. If not then, if you are determined as I was at 15 you will figure out a way to get the job done, it will be harder to get the good deals.

If you want punchy mixes then record punchy sources. Other than that compression if used properly can help.

my wquestion

well thanx for ure guys input i apresiate it, rite now monny isnt rele a thing i just need a list of stuff and im gunna work my way down the list till im satisfied with my out come. I was looking into a mixer just to make the reverbs and compressors and such alot easier to use and another plus is the fact i chould get some use out of my direct outputs. ( sorry if that didnt make scence to all u recording buffs) im learning. Rite now im consentrating on getting myself a new drum kit for the studio, cus my kit now is shot and im useing my sequencer on the korg much to much and u cannot beat live drums so alot of the add ons are going to have to wait a little while. but i forget who told me about ebay, yeh ebay is great they have my dream mixer for 1600 bux wid meter bridge rite now, but sadly i dont have that 1600 on me lol. makie 24 8 bus ,lol. and im preety into pinbal
