Hi Im planning on buying either a really good 1 channel preamp to get a warmer vocal tone, an RNC, or a mutichannel preamp for drums. My drums go through my Mackie 1402 VLZ mixer with XDR preamps, and into a yamaha 2816. I was wondering, with this setup, what will i get the most benefit out of buying? Any input woul be appreciated.

$3,600

sounds like you should get a "really good 1 channel preamp"

im not sure what that means to you, and I dont know your budget, but i would guess that any multi-channel pre that costs about the same as a relatively inexpensive single channel pre isnt gonna due much better than the mackie pres

Eric is right. The preamps on your Mackie are fine for drums. they do the job very nicely.

I would invest in a decent one or two channel preamp. This can used for vocals or acoustic guitar and will give you a warm nice sound.

Please state your budget as this will give us a proce range to look at.
