need special box

Say you have a set of electronic drums with triggers and all .. but you don't have a drum module.

Is it possible to "line in" the 10 or so triggers into the PC?
Basically, I want to use a PC as the Drum Module... to replace say a Roland TD-10

I guess I would need a special box (excuse my ignorance) to take in the 10 or so triggers and transform the inputs into a singal MIDI out .. for direct input into my PC's MIDI jack.

Is this possible? What of the latency involved? Can I do cymbal choke?

Help!

There are trigger to midi convertors but I dont know the model names.

No you wont be able to choke the cymbal most likely. You could get that effect if you have mult-zone triggers and have a sample of a cymbal being choked. Or you could do a quick fade out on the cymbal but that might sound weird.

ok what about this ...

say instead of forking out 200~400$ for that converter thingy i went for the Alesis dm5 .. assuming this thing supports choke .. how difficult would it be to construct a chokeable multi zone cymbal?
