I record with a stand alone recorder then dump the tracks as wave files to my PC. Thus, I'm looking for a good quality soundcard to replace my Sound Blaster for playback output only. I don't want or need inputs, and I figure without them I could save money. What would you recommend? Thanks.

well...pretty much any audio type card is going to have inputs as well. I would recommend something like the M-Audio 24-96 or Delta-44. Echo Mia-Midi, or E-MU 0404. Those are all pretty basic. I've actually also used a behringer FCA-202 with good results. It actually has balanced outs. Alot also depends on your budget.

I used a Delta 1010LT in the past and really liked the quality of it, so I'm seriously leaning toward the M-Audio 2496. I think it would be exactly what I'm wanting and at a good price. Thanks for the help. Anyone else care to chime in?

Audiophile 2496. Good quality DACs and better drivers than the E-Mu 0404.

if you need outputs check out the M-Audio Delta 410 2 analog ins and 8 analog outs.
