Need sound card recommendation

I want a soundcard that has the best sound. Are all the best ones 24-bit or is there anything better?

I will be using this soundcard to mix down/master stuff from my analog recorder and mixer, so, all I need is one input on the soundcard.

I have a built-in soundcard on my motherboard, which I think sounds decent, but if I can get one that sounds better, I will.

Any recommendations? AGain, I'm not looking for any fancy, extra stuff like for recording several tracks directly to PC, but just a good quality sound.

Soundcard

I use an m-audio audiophile 24/96. It is a great sounding card and good value. It has anolog ins and outs and also s/pdif ins and outs. It got a brilliant review in Sound on Sound magazine.

thanks. I will check out that audiophile sound card.

I will be using an old Tascam M-312 mixer and my budget is up to 200$ or so.
I heard you can get good soundcards for around 100$ though.

it looks like the soundblaster audigy

...and doesn't perform much better than the Audigy. Its a gamer card. If you want to do recording, buy a card designed for that purpose.

well he said he thought there were good cards under 100....thats about the best he can do whether its a gamer card or not
