My band are self producing an album. I'm struggling to find anywhere thats suitable. I'm looking for somewhere with SOME credentials, but not somewhere that deals with Majors. Somewhere thats mastered an album or two i've heard of. I'm not interested in people who'll do it free or on the cheap as a learning experience.
Our budget is around £200 or $330 for a 38ish minute album.
What I'm expecting to get out of mastering (questions inevitable) is someone with an experienced ear, a well treated studio and expensive monitoring equipment to listen over our songs and add the finishing touchs with EQ, multiband comp, etc. Add a bit of volume but not "death magnetic" it. Perhaps enhance stereo width, anything the ME feels will help to allow our album to compete with others. Deliver master copy/s for duplication with track markers perfect etc.
Masterings not a magic bullet, make sure the time and money is spent on tracking and mixing, etc. It is
