Hello!

I'm new to the technical aspect of recording, and live sound. But am a professional (player) musician.
I am needing some recommendations for equipment.

For starters this will be for two bands. An acoustic band, and a rock band. Plus my home studio, my personal project sounds much like Dark Melodic Alt. Metal with a bit of trip hop thrown in.

My questions would be. I am looking for a professional set of mics for my gigs, and with the flexibility for vocals. In other words, an overhead mic with the ability to do good vocals, and acoustic guitar. I like what I've heard with AKG, and Audix. But my knowledge is slim to none. (not gonna lie to you)

The other question is what is a good mixer in the 200-400 price range that will serve me well in my studio, and live settings?

My price range would be around 700-900 total for everything.

I appreciate it, and will continue to soak in the good info on here.

Peace fellas

I guess I should throw in that I am running Pro Tools LE on my computer, using a Pro Tools MBox 2. I've only used some friend's SM57s and 58s. Work good but since I am getting my own arsenal, and nothing about what would work best for my situation..all that brings me here.

I do understand Condensors, Dynamic, etc..

Thanks again

Thanks for the info...I'll check those out. Here are some drum mics I've been looking into. I will just name them, and as (again) my knowledge is slim to none on mics..maybe someone could point me in the right direction, of which might produce the best sound.

The Shure PGDMK6 drum mic kit

AUDIX DP6 mic kit

or

AKG perception 200 overhead, D112 kick, C418toms/snare C419floor tom

If on a tight budget or if you just want some cheap mics ($$ wise) id go Audiotechnica ATR-30... Now im a beg, musician and have had tons of mics.. but id have to say this mic for its price is great.. i just love it.. price is good and sound is good (in my opinion).. A little sensitive if handling alot but i use these for my personal recordings.
