need some Motherboard help here.

dual channel ddr means this. Each stick of memory gets its own channel for ram input output..... therefore you are able to get 2X the ram transfer in and out. So that would be 6.4 GB/Sec. I would definitely reccommend this to ANYONE. If you are going with an AMD processor, get the A7N8X motherboard... either deluxe or regular edition. That means that you will get better performance using 2 smaller sticks of ram running dual, rather than 1 big stick using only one channel.
So if you want a Gig of ram it's better to get 2 - 512m sticks rather than a single Gig stick.
 
two weeks ago i bought the asus p4g800-v motherboard from newegg along with a p4 2.4ghz cpu ("revision c" that runs at 800 fsb). it's a step under the one you're looking at--there's no onboard raid on this one, but the one i got had more pci slots, and that was top on my list. an intel chipset was also high on my list. when dealing with recording and computers, going with "knowns" are always good things, and i know intel chipsets as stable and widely compatible.

the mobo handles that 800mhz fsb quite nicely as well, and once payday comes (and assuming ram quits going up in price), i'll be adding another stick of 512 in there to take advantage of that dual channeling--then we'll be talkin. :D

so anyway, LOVE the motherboard. very stable, and the system just screams (i'm not even considering overclocking--why bother?). that mobo was $100 well spent.

I have 2 worrds for you regarding that mobo: Buy it. I just built my DAW on this board and it's great. Make sure you get the 800Mhz P4 to make the most of the board's capabilities

Just so you know, for Dual Channel to work properly, using matched Ram sticks is preferred. At least make sure you buy the EXACT same type of ram you already have, or dual channel won't work, it'll just be normal single channel.

I plan on getting 2 matched sticks of Corsair XMS ram for my PC, but the ram I'm getting is very high quality ($330). You can check em out here, they even have nifty activity lights lol

Also, in order for dual channel to work, you need both ram sticks in the same color slots. So like on the p4p800 you would either need them in both blue slots, or both in black slots.

That's a nice mobo board, I got the model above that with the P4C800 E-Deluxe, but I'm not done building my PC so can't use it yet. Should be a sweet PC when I'm done though!
