Hi people, this is my first post here so firstly hello!!

Right, i have a slight problem with my condenser mic and I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on the matter!
The mic is question is a ISK BM-400 that i run off a ISK SPM001 phantom power source, and the problem in question is, all of a sudden the quality of the mic as deteriorated its become slightly crackerly and has a slight echo...
I've just read you should never unplug a condenser mic without first turning of the power and i will hold my hands up to possibly doing this once or twice!! Could this be the cause to the problem? If so is there anything i can do to fix it??

Thanks guys!!

Have you ever dropped the mic or left it out for awhile to collect condensation in the capsule? Sounds like what happened.

No, ive never dropped it. I tried to use it last week in my studio week, my studio was freezing cold and the problems started around then, i had a feeling it could have been condensation... it was only in the cold for maybe 15-20 minutes then i brought it back in and left it in a warm dry place. If condensation has collected in the capsule is there anyway to fix the problem without sending it off to be professionally fixed??

Haha my studio gets freezing cold too... total black metal atmosphere! I don't know of any fixes if there is condensation in there. I'm also not sure if having it out in the cold for 20 min would damage it. Are you singing really close to it without a vocal screen?
