Need some help picking a mic.

Most I want to spend is 400$. I will be recording rap/hip-hop. I have a real deep voice and will only be recording vocals. I am moving soon so I am not sure exactly where I am going to set up the mic, but I will probably be making a booth in a closet.

I was looking at;
CAD M9
R0DE NT2-A

But really have no idea. So if you have any other mic suggestions let me know.

I like the M9 a lot for male vocals. It's a great all-around mic in general, IMHO. That said, if your voice is really deep, you might benefit from a brighter mic like an ADK Hamburg. Hard to say without actually trying both mics. If you happen to be in the San Francisco Bay area, shout and I'll let you try out an M9 and a Hamburg.

One small word of caution, though, the Hamburg is really picky about having full phantom supply voltage and current. If you use something that doesn't provide enough power (e.g. every Peavey amplifier I've ever used), it sounds like you're running your sink while singing through a tin can telephone. :D The M9, of course, has its own power supply, so it is entirely immune to phantom power issues.

I'd probably go with the M9 and just add a little EQ boost to brighten things up if needed. It's about as safe a bet as you can get, IMHO, as it is always easier to brighten up a good mic than to take away the harsh high end of a cheap mic. :)
