hey ,

i got some new stuff and i'm not sure on how to set(hook) it up ,can i get some help please?,

i 've been rackin my brain trying to figure this out my self, but no luck,i have done the search thing on here andreally didnt cover the help i needed. so i want to get some help for my situation.

OK here's what i got i have a EDirol pcr50 Midi Controller Keyboard(new)a (akai)MPC 2000xl,a Novation super bass station rack module(new).

now how do i hook this up so they all work together in sync ,and the fastest way to create or produce music with this hardware.

i use the mpc to sample drum sounds and for percussion basically all it functions, now i want to use the keyboard to make basslines and get tones(or sounds) in to it cause there's no sounds, how do i get the bass station to record different sounds on different tracks of the MPC, what does this mean
monophonic, have no idea what this means ,

i'am a noobie to midi so any help i can get i really apperciate it
thank you for your time
please help...

You really just hook the midi cables up, set the keyboard as master and the other things as slaves. Use the sequencer in the keyboard to trigger the sounds of the mpc and the bass station.

You will need a mixer to listen to it all at the same time and something to record on. After that you are all set.

how do i set that keyboard as master and whats the wirering diagram like
i have a VS880 to record on but i dont use it midi, like i said i'm new to to midi, i just have to get in to it now because of the bass station, i dont kno any other way to use it.

i dont kno if the keyboard has a sequencer there's no sounds in it the MPC has a sequencer can i use that as master ,

i havent hooked up anything to the mpc midi yet.

like i said i'm noo to this midi thing, i dont kno where the heck to start from
thanks

I re-read your post, I thought the keyboard was a workstation (could be alzheimers)

The mpc will be the master. You go midi out of the mpc to midi in of the bass station. Midi out of the bass station to the midi in of the keyboard. Midi out of the keyboard to midi in of the mpc.

Those are the connections, you will have to go into the mpc and assign different midi channels to the different pieces. I wonder if there is a 'midi for dummies' book? (I love those things) Midi is the only way to make this work.

Farview thanks that help'd it's all workin nicely, ijust have to figure out how to save the setting on the SBS when editing the tones on it so when i load it up on the mpc it comes up as it was when i made it.

what does this monophonic mean that you can't change the sound in a sequence cause everytime i got this bassline going and i go to another track to start a new sound it changes the last sound that i had playing, does that make sence.
it doesnt say much about setting midi cahnnels on the manual for the SBS, can these channel settings be made elsewhere.

thanks again for the help i really appreciate it and for replying and helpin me out so quick.
peace

what does this monophonic mean
I think in this instance it means that you can only play one not at a time. Polyphonic means you can play multiple notes at once.

If you have 16 voice polyphony, you can have 16 notes going at once. If you try to play 17, one of them won't play.

MAN!!!! i messed around all day with this trying to figure out the midi channels and saving settings to devices and maken everything work in sync but it kick'd my @$$,from 930 this morning to 10;00 this evening, reading and turning buttons and nothing accomplished just trial and error and more error then anything.

is there some one on this forum from the san francisco bay area who live's near hayward i will pay someone to hook this up for me and get it running more or less how i want it to work.

i got the manual's for every thing but i can understand it . it's like reading a foreign language.

i got everything hook'd up and running but setting midi channels is a mofo.

email me or PM me if you can do it ededj03@yahoo.com

thanks

ps Farview
i think i figured out what that means today, that i will only beable to record one track at a time in my songs, is there a way to make it polyphonic with a device or something.
or am i just going to have to sequence one track at time when recording
thanks really for your help.

Monophonic is one of those words that means different things depending on what you are talking about. Sometimes monophonic (mono) is the opposite of stereophonic (stereo), sometimes it is the opposite of polyphonic like I explained before.

You should be able to play more than one instrument at a time off of your sound module, you just have to have it on a different channel. I have never used your hardware before, so I could be wrong, but most things allow this.
