Hey guys-
I'm brand new here and could use a little advice. i have a Roland Vs-880 that I bought new way back in 1998 (god, i payed like 2 grand for this thing back then) and it has done the basics for me for many many years now but I am about done with it. I want to go the workstation route again but not sure what to upgrade to. originally was thinking 16 tracks but when i saw all the great used gear available I am now thinkgin minimum 24 but preferably 32. A few I am looking at are:
Roland VS 2480 (these seem a little pricey though)
korg D3200 (the 80G version)
Tascam 2488 neo

The tascam seems to be the best deal right now (new or used) but i wonder if its too much of a deal, i.e. not that nice. Can someone give me some input?
Thanks

Are you set on a stand alone interface? Do you want to mix on a computer or you want to do it all in a self contained box.

You have a lot more control and flexibility with a computer using a DAW - but as far as multi-track recording through a USB 2 or Firewire interface you are mostly limited to 16 tracks.

Yeah, i want to stick swith a stand alone. I have looked into making the switch to doing it on the computer, but for what I am doing, the stand alone is the most bang for the buck
