I'm new to this site, I recently found it while searching for (you guessed it) home recording info. It's been a great help so far, now on to bidness.

This a song I did just practicing mixing techniques and whatnot.
It's a rap song and I just want some opinions on whats wrong, like the vocal is too high or cut the lows some (that type stuff).

Y-Kause I followed your instructions and lowered the vocal.

What I did was route all my vocals to a bus and put a hard limiting effect (-11db) on the bus then made sure the highest peak on the beat was between -8db and -9db, then I mixdownd the master output to mono, then I used hard limiting again to get an even peak then amplified the volume to -1.

this is the new mixdown: http://www.box.net/shared/uo1993xfbd
