Hello!
I am currently recording a contemporary church band with a Mackie Onyx 1640 (with aftermarket Firewire Card) and Logic 9 with my MacBook Pro.
The recordings sound really good. I normally use between 16-18 channels depending on keys and loops.
The mixer Im using belongs to another ministry and they need it back. I am trying to decide what to get to replace it. I want something that has decent preamps but is very compatible with Apple/Logic.
I do all my EQ in Logic so I toyed with the thought of daisy chaining two MOTU 8pre's....or buying one of the new Mckie Onyx 1640i's with firewire.
What is my best bet? I want to keep between 16-18 channels. I need to keep it around $2K. I was very impressed with the preamps of the older Mackie.
