I'm just getting into home recording and today I'll be picking up my interface along with my microphone. My choices are limited to what's available in stores, as I don't really feel like buying on-line. All 3 are roughly the same price range.

I'll list them here: (would post links buy I'm not able to)

Peavey PVi 2 : $59.99
Peavey PVi 3: $79.99
Samson Q7 : $79.99
Senheiser e835: $89.99

I'll be using the microphone for vocal recording, as my acoustic has a pickup and will be recorded directly. Thanks guys. :)

edit: Whoops, guess that's 4 mics. :P

I'd skip all of those and buy an Sm57.
It's a good all purpose mic that can be used for a ton of different things.
It'll never lose it's value.
It'll record snare drums, guitars, vocals, acoustic, trombone, etc.
So many applications.

Seconded and you'll find them in 90% of music shops, but out of that list by far the senheisser, and I've never had a bad experience in buying online but I always buy from thomann.de/ie

Also, I don't know any of the other mics. So I apologize for the slightly off topic comment. But it's right in your price range...

:)

If those are your only possible option ..... go for the e835

Never used any of them, but if forced to choose I'd go with the Sennheiser solely because it's a Sennheiser. I'm shallow like that sometimes :D :laughings:

I also like the Sennheiser. It's one of my stage backup mics. I prefer it to the SM57 or SM58 for most vocal applications.-Richie

Or you could trade them all in and get something else!

possible replacements to follow............
