I have an old HP pavillion desktop that wont power up. I recently moved and the computer worked fine before I moved but since, I cant get it to come on. I no longer use this computer for recording but its something to keep clients busy while Im tracking. Anyway...Im not in the studio at the moment so not exactly sure of the model number but it is an older HP pavilion that I upgraded to XP...I think it may have had win 98 when I got it.

Anyway....just looking for a power supply for cheap...anyone have anything that might work???

Probably a standard power supply... micro-ATX, maybe? If you pull the old power supply, it probably tells what size it is. Anyway, most power supplies are cheap. They start at about $20 for enough wattage for an older motherboard and a couple of hard drives. :)

Before you replace it, though, make sure the power supply is plugged in correctly on both ends first. Also, make sure that the 110/220 switch is in the right position and any externally accessible fuses aren't blown.

Its simple, but happens all the time when I service computers,,,,make sure the power Supply on-off switch on the back of the power supply itself didnt get turned off when moving the unit. (Even if it IS on,,,then turn it off and on again, then try it)

Otherwise take the advice above on getting a cheap ATX power Supply.

Peace
