Need Multi pattern Suggestion

I´m ready for a multi pattern mic. Any suggestions?

I already have following cardoide condensers:

Neumann TLM103
Rode NTK
2x AKG C2000B
2x old Philips small diaphragm

all of them very good sounding mics

I guess I need something truly versatile and “omni” at this point. Having already some excellent vocal mics, main use for my upcoming acquisition will probably be instrumental.

Other question; Since I usually record instruments stereo; would two “omni” mics for stereo recording make sence? (Or perhaps the new large diaphragm stereo mic by Studio Projects? (Is that multi patern?))

BTW my budget would be up to $1000

Thanks,

Jan

Studio Projects C3

Studio Projects make a stereo multi-pattern mic called the LSD2.
It's essentially two C3 mics in one housing.

I posted some info on the multi-pattern Studio Projects C3 here....

Scroll down for the 'C1 versus C3' post.

I bought two and can recommend them... especially for the money. For me two individual multi-pattern mics give me more flexibilty than the LSD2. If dedicated stereo miking is your thing, then something like the LSD2 would be faster and simpler to set up.

There is also the T3 which is a tube multi-pattern. This is somewhat darker sounding than the C3. The T3 also uses an output transformer while the FET version C3 is a transformerless design.

Cheers pundit.

Score yourself a couple of AT4050's if you can, and be done with it.

Shure KSM 44 would be another good choice.

I love this mic for recording acoustic instruments. Very accurate and versatile.
