Need more VST-Slots than 8

HI,

I have Cubase AI 6 and I'm doing mainly electronic music with VST-Plug Ins as Kontakt, Battery etc.

Those Instruments I load via the slide "devices"

Unfortunately these slots are limited to 8. In other words I can't load more than 8 simultaneously.

But I'm pretty much constrained with 8 slots, because I need way more tracks and Instruments than 8 for an electronic song.

I have heard from an Software called effectchainer. This software pretend as a VST-Instrument in order to generate some more VST-slots, but I haven't found a software which works though.

I would be really glad if someone could help me.

Greetings Ramirez

Duno how it works in cubase, but in Protools I'd just set the track output to 'bus 1' (if it's mono), then set up a second track with bus 1 as the input.
Now you've got 16 effects slots.

Try printing the instrument to an audio track once you have the midi for it sorted out. Then remove it from the vst rack and put something else there. This can not only allow you to free up vst slots, but helps reduce CPU usage if you have that problem. Another problem it solves is that of versionitis with vsti's, where instruments change over the years and become unavailable (NI does this all the time). If you have printed to audio then you have committed the sound and are ready to mix. I usually only mix a track once everything is committed to audio tracks.

Setup a group track, set the output of the track you want more slots on to that group track. Continue to insert effects.
