need more than 8 tracks

Right now im recording on a roland CD-x that has 8 tracks to use. Thats okay when im recording 1 person but when i have my friends that wanna record there isnt enough tracks, I have a roland vs-880 that is also 8 tracks, is there any way to connect them so i can use 16 tracks. I've tried it once before but every time i recorded the vs-880 was off track a little.what can i do to link them up so they record on the same timing.
 
...Don't have any experience with that unit but if you can, just do some wave form editing with a zoom and line the tracks up manually.
