Need more practical way to record rock/metal

Currently, I am using FL Studio to create the backing track and Sonar to record guitar. Switching from FL to Sonar all the time, exporting the backing track and placing it on Sonar is really frustrating and kills my train of thought :(

I tried using Cubase but it's so much harder to program drums
I tried recording Guitar in FL but there's latency

What to do :confused:
 
haha... I 've just found out that I can use FL as a plugin on Cubase. But if you can think of an even better way then feel free to post
