wow, you are in a great mood today. Did your cat die or something? You didn't think to ask him why he thinks he needs another pre (whoops wrong thread)?

yeah, more info would be helpful and maybe some clips of what you sound like. What do you mean by "stands out more"?

For most vocals people have always liked a lot of Neve style pres such as GAP pre-73 for $300, and I've recently started using API style pres for vocals because their midrange sound makes them easy to fit in a mix. I don't know anything about rap, but those two styles of pres will get you a long way and cover a lot of ground.

For around £1000 you could look at getting a Great River ME-1NV which seem to be the most popular recommendations!

I am using a UA Solo 610, Focusrite ISA One and Presonus Eureka which I really like. They all sound very different but are all quality preamps!

I would presonally look at something with either an API or Neve type sound to compliment your Focusrite Voicemaster Pro as this is a pretty clean sounding preamp!

The PRE73 does have a nice sound and to my ears the modded version sounds even better so maybe pick one of those up?

Maybe a Harmonizer and Vocal Processor is the way to go? I go from rapping to harmonizing my vocals in one verse like Drake does on his songs. Same type of style.
