I've been to the Carvin store here in Hollywood and I have to say that their guitars have really amazing fit and finish. I never bought one cuz I prefer really retro looking stuff (I know it's a dumb reason) but I think they're really fine instruments for the price. They also seem really consistent which is a must for mail order giutars...pretty much every one I picked up off the rack was really good.

I was afraid to buy an mail-order guitar for years...until I found a used one to try out....Now I own 5 carvins, and a carvin amplifier. Top quality and great sound. I also relaced the pickups on my Ibanez GB10 with carvin M-22s.
(Yes, I have owned all the holy grail equipment and travelled with a rock band throughout the 60's and early 70's) :)

Peace,
Rick

I can't speak for the Carvin guitars but I did build a bass using All Carvin components including the neck and am amazed
that more people don't use their parts. I also use a 4-10 shop built cabinet with carvin speakers plus two single 15" cabinets with carvins! The electronics are great and the tone I get with it rival most any customs I've ever heard!

a friend has a Carvin LB20 bass he bought about 14 years ago - nice koa wood, straight neck, great sound. He also has a DC127 that's satin maple and both guitars are finely finished. for myself I just ordered an LB20 of my own. back in '82 I bought some PA gear for a band I was in -- speakers and a stereo power amp -- and went to Carvin for price and ended up with quality. I am still using the speakers and the amp in my studio and, in fact, I just took the amp into the shop for the first time since December '82 because the left channel had cut out. the tech said he found a loose wire resting against another and when he fixed that it worked again. Charged me nada. Did I mention their stuff sounds great too? And that I have a Carvin tube guitar amp? That I love their stuff? Did I mention that?
