I have had my 16G for about a week now and I am just missing something. I cannot get the pad events to record with the tracks that I have laid down. At this point, I am starting in direct mode record and I have to push the pad button each time I lay down another track. The pad doesn't start or cut in automatically. I have had to resort to using my synth as a drum machine and reording it on a seperate track. I would like to use the pads for this so I don't take up a track.

I know this is probably one of the simplest things this unit does, but for some reason, I just can't get it to do it. I have review the book and the video with no help. Can anyone assist me????

Yo Juststarting:

You can get a Yamaha techie online and he/she will solve your problem.

I use the 2816 but the AW16 is a bit different so I can't give you an answer. But, since it is a popular box, I'm sure someone here can help you out.

aw16g sample pad problem

Hey juststartingout,
I too am very new to the DAW world, and have had my 16g for about a week. I'm having a helluva time with the manual (God bless those whose gray matter is still intact!) The DVD did absolutely nothing, other than showing some dude reading a teleprompter. Anyhow, I'm hoping you get some sort of a response about the sampling pads, as I'm having the same problem. I punch in a sample from a bank to record to a pad track, and as soon as I hit play, the sample is not the one I wanted. I hit stop and press the same pad, and viola, there's the sample I wanted. I have no clue as to what's going on with that! Hopefully someone like jeffree or dinsdale, who have had their units for some time now, can help us out. In the meantime I guess I'll bug Ed Blackmore from Yamaha one more time. Later and good luck! MH

OK, I got it figured out. There was a misinterpretation on my part with the manual between recording on the pad track and recording the pad track events. After some playing I did get it going.

At this point, I really like the system and am having fun with it.
