I've been learning how to program a Boss DR-770 drum machine and this morning I plugged it into my workstation for the first time. Yikes! The cymbals went all to hell!

Anybody know what's up with that? Granted, the 770's cymbal sounds aren't out of this world to begin with, but as far as I'm concerned they sound fine when listened to with headphones or when plugged straight into my monitors. But when I run them through my Yamaha workstation, instead of decaying they just die immediately after the attack. And what little decay occurs phases and wavers in and out with the overall beat of the song. It sounds just awful.

The workstation is new, by the way, and doesn't seem to have any other quirks. So I'm hesitant to blame it all on the Yamaha. Are there any other possibilities? I know "user error" ranks high on the list of probablities, so what am I likely to be doing wrong?
