My idea is to represent sound visually in a physical way. Basically, I want to have sounds or frequencies (pre recorded or live) and put them through some sort of effects (I'm thinking dropping their frequencies a few octaves?) and into a set of bandpass filters that will send them to speakers or a subs that will make packing peanuts or something of that sort sitting around and on top of them to move with the sounds. I'd prefer for the sounds coming out of the speakers to not be audible but realize that will probably be pretty hard to do. I thought lower frequencies would cause more vibration as well.

I'm sure I'm pretty far off on this, but that's why I'm asking.

Thanks,
Jay

Piet Mondrian?

My professor wouldn't let that fly, plus it doesn't really satisfy the assignment (to replicate completely an object, but to take more note of how we fail than how we succeed), but thanks for the reply.

YO You can call me Jay but not Ray:

You might get the video of that woman singing on a commercial and shattering a glass? [Memorex commercial]

You might get some dolphin videos of dolphins utilizing their sonic power to root out food from under the sand. I just saw that on television a few days ago.

And, way back in my memory, I recall a type of gun, toy gun, that uses paper to create a bang. The bang, of course, comes from the sound wave created when the trigger triggers the mechanism and a small strip of paper is punched by a metal hammer at high speed.

Then, there is this shrimp with a super type of claw that creates a sonic boom.

And, last, but not least, the bombardier beetle which utilizes its body to create a bang.

Don't know if this helps but maybe it might.

Green Hornet :D :p
