I'm not getting what I need from my system. It's all a little complicated for me and I would sure appreciate any help someone could offer.

I'll add all the info just in case any of it matters.

I have a dual boot (win98se-winxp) system with 2.0gig processor, 512 RAM, 160gig HD, Creative Audigy2 and MIDIMAN Delta 44 soundcards, Creative Soundworks-DTT3500 Digital speaker 5.1 speaker system, Behringer Eurorack MX1604A mixer (12 channel, 4 Bus mic/line) and a AKG D330 BT microphone. I've also got an Ensoniq Performance sampler which I am using as a non-MIDI keyboard into MIDIMAN 3and 4 IN). I don't want to know anything about MIDI, it's too much for me. Also have Pro4A Koss Headphones

I use Cool Edit Pro 2.1, Waves Native Gold Bundle and sometimes Wave Lab 4.0 that's it.

What I want to do is to record just voice and guitar with keyboard and get everything working. I have had it working well but that was when I had the Yamaha SW1000XG soundcard, since replaced by the Audigy. Now I get the feedback shriek whenever I push the main faders up on the mixer...this is only through the external speakers...no problem in headphones.

I need to know what cables to run from the Audigy and the MIDIMAN breaker box INto the mixer and what OUT of the mixer and where to put the speaker cables. Once this is right I am sure I can figure the buttons on the mixer. I am able to record okay at the moment except that the mic record level is very low when I am in Cool Edit so I have to turn up the mic gain on the mixer significantly.

I want to use the Audigy for all OUT sounds and the MIDIMAN for recording= voice, guitar, keyboard.

I'm just doing analog...except for internal digital work and I have that covered.

Presently I have a stereo jack coming out of the Audigy OUT into the Tape IN of the mixer and a stereo jack in the IN of the Audigy going to the OUT of the mixer. I have two phono plugs coming from the MIDIMAN IN going to the ALT Output Right 4, Left 3.(of the mixer) I have two phono plugs coming out of the Main Output Right & Left of the mixer which then split to two RCA's (Left and Right) which then change to two pins going to the Left and right analog in's on the Speaker control box. The mic is in Line IN "1" of the mixer XLR imput. Keyboard is going into MIDIMAN 3 and 4 inputs. Nothing happening at The MIDIMAN 1&2 0r 3&4 Outputs. The five speakers are arranged around the place and all are working with this set-up. Frankly, if it weren't for the feedback (which has just shown up in the last couple of days) and the low mic level, not to mention low mic level in headphones compared to the rest of the music I am singing to everything would be fine.

I'd really appreciate a schematic to simplify what I am trying to do. I haven't plugged in the guitar yet but that is not problem.

Any questions, please let me know, I'll respond asap. You will have my great gratitude. My talents do not embrace the Left brain needs of technical understanding. I know I'll figure this out eventually cause I never give up....but some help would be great. Thanks.

I haven't read though you post in detail, but what the hum will be will be some sort of loop... ie, if you have a mic in from of the speakers... the sound of the speaker is recorded through the mic which is played back through the speakers... the loop continues and the 'hum' get's louder... when you listen to it through the headphones, the mic can't hear that, hence, you not hearing the hum.

I know that Cakewalk Sonar has an option to turn off the audio engine to reduce this... I'm not too sure if Cool Edit has a similar button... but the above info is where the problem lies... hope that give you a start..

I had the same problem with the Audigy card...If it's what I'm thinking it is..Go into the soundcards' control panel and turn off/mute anything you're not using....I can't remember what it was, but I think I muted 'what you hear' fader, or what ever it's called and it stopped the feedback loop....Sorry 'bout the sketchy details...Hope this helps...

success!!!!

I muted the Line IN in Playback (windows mixer) voila. Thank you!!!! I still can't et very good recording levels on the voal mic though and now I'm only getting mono on one track. Well, that's one thing out of the way.....Excellent. Another reason to emigrate to your neck of the woods, which I will do one of these days.

Thank you

post below yours had the answer. Can't get decent mike levels or voice monitoring in the headphones but this is a start. Really appreciate your help.
