Need help with my setup!!!!!

So, I am in the process of Setting my equipment up again to record some music! I had it all set up before but only for Karaoke, I had to switch Wiring back and forth to record (pain in the @$$) Heres what Ive got, I use an E-MU 0404 USB for my mic's and my MIDI keyboard, But it acts as a standalone sound card, I was wanting to use My Fatality X-FI sound card just for Audio Out to my surround setup because Ive been mastering in Dolby 5.1! I also Have a Hercules DJ rmx Which I use to control Virtual DJ, But it also acts as a sound Card!!!!! I use FL studio 9 to Create Beats and loops,Virtual DJ to Do after mixes and scratching, and Adobe Audition 3 to Multitrack and record! What would be the best setup for me to use this hardware and software in conjunction simultaneously? Any help would be great! I am STUMPED!

Using three sound cards simultaneously is not a good idea. You should only use one sound card at a time.

For example, say you are doing overdubs in Audition (recording new tracks over top of existing tracks), and you are recording with the Emu and playing back through the Fatality card. The new track that you are recording could be out of sync with the other tracks.

Every sound card has its own clock that ensures that all the digital audio plays back simultaneously (it also ensures a constant bit rate). If you have two different cards playing at the same time, their clocks won't be in sync with each other, and the resulting audio will not line up (though you may not notice until you have a bunch of tracks recorded). Professional studios use a master clock to synchronize all digital devices in the studio.

It should be fine to have all of these devices connected. However, only one should actually be used at any one time. You could track in Audition with the Emu, using the Emu for playback. Then switch to the Fatality card for the final mixdown.

Makes alot of sense!

I really didnt think about that one! I will just use my EMU! I can just overdub in audition after my thanks for the reply!

At on point, I was using my SB Audigy 2 ZS only. Noisy & hissy for recording. OK for playback
Then, I got a Zoom G7 guitar processor with USB interface built-in. I could I/O through the Zoom's USB.
However, I did, at times, Input from the Zoom and Output via SB Audigy and using the on-board MIDI RAM. I was using REAPER to adjust the settings, and I think I was using ASIO4ALL. And I didn't have any issues, really.

Therefore, it may be possible to record via EMU and output through your SB. Check your settings in Audition. Or Record and Monitor with EMU. Mix afterwards with your SB.
